Messy Art Projects Outside Your Home: Kids Seattle Art

When it comes to arts and crafts in our house, it tends to go a little something like this:

Me: “Hey babes, do you want to color?”

Daughter: Squeals loudly “Yesss!!!”

Me: I open up her Seattle Sounders lunchbox where all of her crayons and coloring pens are housed “Here you go.  Let’s keep the pen on the paper.”

Daughter: Scribbling like crazy… getting marks on the floor…

Me: “Ok, let’s keep the pen on the paper and try drawing circles.”

Daughter: Looks at me to see if I am looking and heads towards the wall with her blue pen…

Me: “Pens on the paper!!”

Managing art projects can be tiring.  Well, for someone who is type-A like me and has a hard time watching my kiddo draw on my walls.  You would think that coming from an artistic background that I would be a little less uptight.  Nope, it makes my skin crawl.  Glue, glitter, buttons, beads all over the house, I cannot even think about it.

Since I love art so much, I decided to find a place where my daughter can be as creative/messy as she wants, without having me tell her what to do.  Luckily Seattle has lots of great places that she loves going to!

Young At Art

$15 per hour ages 6 and up

Young at Art is one of our favorite places!  They provide multiple stations throughout their studio for different art projects from bead necklaces to decorating pumpkins to watercolor.  Art projects vary per visit and if a holiday is approaching, projects will be geared towards that holiday.  Best of all, there is a room just for painting.  What?  Yes, the center of the room is paint-filled buckets where kids can dip paintbrushes or squishy balls and paint all over the walls.  Smocks are provided!  Great for all ages and stages.  Adult painting and gift making classes are also provided.  Check their website for more details.

Curious KidStuffphoto-09

Toddlers Ages 1-1/2 – 3
Mondays 10-11am
Fridays 10-11am

$15 per session

Curious Kidstuff is known as the go-to place for all things kids.  Their 3,000 sq ft store is filled from top to bottom with almost every toy you can imagine.  Did you know they have an art studio?  They do!  One large room filled with various art projects like painting, gluing and cutting.  The sessions are limited to 8 kids, be sure to register online to reserve your spot.  The hardest part, leaving and walking past all the toys and trying to explain to your 2 year old that you are not going to purchase everything they touch.  To top it all off, they also host kids birthday parties!  I am telling you, this is a kids heaven.

3302 E Spring St
Seattle, WA 98122

Kids ages 4-12 years old

$65 for 2-1/2 hour classes
$55 for Parents Night Out
$180 for 7 Classes or $27 per class

Great for those 4 years and older!  These classes are a little more advanced but also very kid friendly.  If you are looking for Pinterest type creativity, this is the right place.  Creative art projects with glitter, stamps, scissors, glue, nature’s gifts, fabric, glue guns and lots of imaginative designs.  You might think that a 2-1/2 hour class is long, but at Arts Aloft, the time goes by way too fast and you will want to come back!

Take good care, get creative and be well mamas!
