Holiday Meals With Metropolitan Market

This past week, I had the pleasure of attending  Metropolitan Market‘s Holiday Tasting. Their Culinary Artists prepared mouth-watering sides to sample while we tasted and talked tips and turkey.  Being Metropolitan Market, you know they pulled out all the stops and I was excited about all the great meals and recipes they shared.

I love bread and cheese so I found myself stuck right here…

Wine and food pairings are always a big question for the holidays and they showcased a few local wines and cider.  The  White #12 Columbia Valley is their local blend of pinot gris, riesling and chardonnay.  I like my wine on the sweet side (like a rosé) so it was very good and very affordable at $8 a bottle.

I’m not into reds but everyone who did enjoyed the Savoreaux 2010 Pinot Noir Special Reserve, a $20 bottle.  I loved, loved, loved the Sheffield Cider. It’s lightly carbonated and not doesn’t have an overpowering taste like other sparkling ciders.

The showpiece of the evening, of course was the heritage turkey.  Their turkeys are free range and if you love your turkey legs, this is the bird for you.  They also tend to cook quickly, which is a plus in any cook’s kitchen.

If you have out-of-town guests or just looking for a way to impress the locals,  you have to show our Seattle pride with  Fish Eddy’s  dinnerware that you will only find at Metropolitan Market.

Check out their calendar of events and head into one of Metropolitan Market’s six locations to sample their wares from sides to desserts and wines.   If you aren’t about slaving away in your kitchen, you can order a completely cooked dinner with a full turkey and your choice of sides. I know, right? I’m sorely tempted but I must do the bird myself.  But I’m flexible on the sides, they’re the most work anyways.

Be sure and pick up their free Holiday Handbook, their all-inclusive guide to choosing the best-tasting food for you holiday table and simplifying your to-do list this season.
