Water Drinking App: Hello, Plant Nanny

I am not one of those people who are constantly downloading new apps to my phone, but I have to say that I’m impressed with Plant Nanny.  The concept is simple:  You have this cute little plant and every time you drink water, your plant gets “watered.”  If you don’t drink enough water, your plant suffers and you feel bad.  Poor plant.

Choose your plant!

We snagged the app for free, but it is usually 99 cents.  My little ones are obsessed with drinking water now and keeping their plant alive and happy.

When you first begin, you enter some personal information, such as your weight and activity level.  Based on this information, Plant Nanny tells you how much water you should be drinking each day.  You even get to select what kind of cup you are drinking out of, with the app telling you how many ounces fit in each one.  Choose the cup you are using and you are ready to go!

Since we have started using this app, my six-year old wakes up in the morning and immediately wants to check on his plant to get his water drinking started.  He is so motivated to keep his plant healthy that he has imbibed more water than all of us.  I had no idea this would all be so competitive.

Sadly, my plant is not doing well.  Just another reminder that I need to be drinking more water.

Drink water and take care of that plant.

I have to say that Plant Nanny is very cute.  My son got to choose what plant he wanted (a cactus) and he loved picking out the pot, as well.  These little plants have faces and smile or frown depending on how much water they are getting.  He thinks the cactus is pretty funny because it grows two heads.  You really can’t argue with that!

Look at that cute cactus.

Do you use any apps to help you stay healthy?  Which ones do you love?
