I tend to enjoy restaurants that serve breakfast all day long. Why? Because our daughter is obsessed with breakfast foods from eggs to hash browns to breakfast sausage to pancakes. When my husband and I looked for a place to go to lunch, as a family, we chose The Square Knot in Georgetown because it is a 24 hour diner. Grab a booster seat/highchair, a booth and saddle up for this delicious ride.
As you approach the front door of The Square Knot, Edward Hopper’s painting Nighthawks pops to mind. A classic diner counter with a wall of booths. This is the definition of diner. As we walked in we were greeted with a “Please seat yourself” sign. We quickly found a booth that was open and took our seat. We were quickly greeted by a friendly server who asked us if we would like a highchair. We took her up on the offer. As the highchair was delivered, she took our drink order. If you are looking for Coke or Pepsi products, this isn’t your place. They serve old school Rite!
As we sipped on our Diet Rite and 2% mile, she took or food order. We got the Clubhouse Sandwich with a side salad, grilled cheese with french fries and a veggie scramble with hash browns and sourdough toast.
Granted our order was fairly large, the time to make the food and get it to our table was a bit long. My husband and I had moments while managing our hungry daughter that we prayed for the food to hit the table so she would calm down.
The wait was worth it!
The veggie scramble was packed with tofu, zucchini, tomato, garlic, onions and mushrooms. It was absolutely delicious and not a greasy mess (thank goodness)!
The best part? The hash browns. They were perfectly prepared to be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. When looking for the perfect condiment to add to those delicious hashers, just look at the wall of condiments, there is everything you need (and more)!
I don’t even think this is the best part. A lot of times when I think about ordering a BLT, I imagine thin slices of bread, wimpy tomatoes, sad looking lettuce and overly crispy bacon smothered in mayonnaise. This Clubhouse sandwich was anything but wimpy. Check out the thick pieces of honey glazed ham and roasted turkey. The bacon, well that was a chewy and crispy treat all in one bite. Our daughter found it to be the best part of the meal. Just look at that succulent meat!
I highly recommend The Square Knot. It is easy to find parking, family friendly and serves delicious food. I have one word. Sold! I would love to go back and try some of the things that they have been known for like their Bloody Mary’s, milkshakes, dessert, prime rib and mashed potatoes. That is the best part of a good restaurant, there is always something to look forward to.
Enjoy the good eats. It is worth every calorie.
Take good care and be well mamas!
