Shoreline is a lively, diverse community with lots of fun to offer its Seattle neighbors. Its parks, libraries and cultural events have always been a great complement to our activities in the city.
One of my favorite places to take the kids is the Indoor Playground at Spartan Recreation Center in Shoreline. I love that the program runs Monday to Friday. It’s nice not to have to keep a schedule in mind. I know that I have that option for indoor play every day, from 9:30 to 11:30 am.
It’s like your typical community center toddler gym time, but more laid back. I think this is partly because the gym is so enormous. The toys fill up less than half the gym, with stations for tumbling, kitchen play, slides and mini basketball. That leaves plenty of room for running around and going crazy in the many mini cars, gliders and tricycles.
The exception is the Halloween day event, which is the same time as the regular gym. It can get crowded, though not too busy for little ones to have fun. If you’re looking for another opportunity to get mileage out of that costume, it’s a fun place to do a few special activities in addition to enjoying the usual toddler gym time toys.
Cost per child for the indoor playground is $2 at the door and punch cards are available at the recreation center’s front desk.
