Summer Fun: Evergreen State Fair

Nothing says summertime like a good old-fashioned county fair!  Bring the entire family to Monroe for this annual event, which starts Thursday, August 23 and runs through September 3.

The Evergreen State Fair offers tons of family fun with food, games, animals, music, rodeos, and a carnival!

KIDS

If you want to snag free admission to the fair, Kid’s Day is August 30 with all children under 15 admitted at no cost.  Special kid-friendly events will be taking place throughout the day, including the ever-popular Reptile Man, as well as a pie eating contest, pig races, a kid’s activity tent, and a lumberjack show.

MUSIC

I am really impressed with the year’s line-up of musicians.  There really is something for everyone.  Here are the deets of all the musical acts performing:

August 23: Styx

August 28: Rodney Atkins

August 29: Gavin DeGraw & Colbie Caillat

August 30: Demi Lovato with Hot Chelle Rae

August 31: Jake Owen

CARNIVAL

It’s not a true fair experience if you don’t go on a few rides.  Not the spinny ones, if you’re like me, but I can handle a Ferris wheel or a tame kiddie ride.  Aside from the rides, most people don’t leave the county fair without some snacks.  What’s your favorite?  Elephant ear?  Cotton candy?  Corn dog?

RODEO

Are you a rodeo fan?  Grab your Pro-West Rodeo tickets here for all the action that starts August 31 and runs through September 2.

Savor the end of summer with a trip to the fair!

I have such fond memories of the Evergreen State Fair! I used to show my cows at it for the full 10 days. Lived in our trailer on the fair grounds. Ran wild in the carnival and got my first kiss there too! Now I’m in MI and well the Evergreen State Fair is to far to go. Then again it wouldn’t be the same!

Hope everyone enjoys it who has a chance to go!
