Fine dining in Seattle with children? No, it’s not an oxymoron, it is so possible. I’m always on the lookout for nice places to take my boys that don’t involve people dancing in some sort of animal outfit. I found the perfect fit with Fifty North in University Village and we took the family there for dinner.
The atmosphere is trendy but relaxed and comfortable, and check out the extra-deep and large booths! No one will be peeking over at anyone and there is plenty of space for everyone. Which, on a Sunday night, wasn’t much of a problem, there were only 2 other couples there.
The biggest draw is their menu…they have a gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options and the dishes are coded as such. In fact, the menu actually says ‘anti-inflammatory, gluten free, dairy/egg free options available on most dishes‘.
The children’s menu has a nice range for picky eaters, like grilled cheese and hot buttered noodles, as well as plenty of healthy choices like grilled chicken and mixed veggies. All children’s menu items are $5.50 each and come with your choice of beverage.
All the reviews raved on the banana cream pie and I’ll have to rave on it too. I nibbled on my husband’s order; it had REAL banana slices in it and a chocolate cookie crust! I can’t remember the last time we had a banana pie with real bananas.
As you can see, there is a full-service bar so I would probably avoid 50 North on game days, I’m sure it will be loud and rowdy.
Another hot fine-dining spot that I’m in love with, Purple Cafe & Wine Bar.
